How can you tell the ink is off?

Love the stamps and the lay out for this months currently inked. I'm still pretty new to pens so I haven't done a currently inked yet. I hope Everyday Explores has those stamps at the SF Pen Show. I would love to get them.

The Take a Note seems like a perfect solution for you. I was going to suggest the Kinbor weekly A5, but it would only be a tiny bit bigger than your TN size. Adding twice the number of pages per week without the commitment of dailies seems like a good next step.

I love the binder you have your ink swatches in. I also love these videos because I love hearing your thoughts on inks and pens and things. It’s inspiring! I’m surprised your writer’s blood felt dry because that ink is so gushy I can only have it in a specific extra fine nib to be useful 😂😂😂

BTW, I'm the worst cleaner in the world. Solidarity.

I think Yoseka will have it when the 2025 line-up is released, I first came across this planner in one of their video's I believe. Thank you for the nice video, I really enjoyed hearing your thought process of working out what works best for you.

Writer's Blood in a Benu might be interesting. A very wet ink in a (presumably) very wet writing pen.(I don't have that model of Benu, but all my Benu's are very wet.) I look forward to your report on this combination. However it turns out will be interesting. Thank you for the video.

I think my favorite pen would be the Lamy 2000, but then I love to write larger, so it’s a combination of the OBB nib and the all in all feel of the pen. The waterman Edson and carène rank high for me as well (L nibs on both of mine), glad you decided to keep the Carènes!

I also had the best intentions to cut out my PET tapes for my sticker release inserts. It’s a good few in theory, but I haven’t been able to keep up, either. I’ve been really enjoying Ru on Paper’s use of the Take a Note as well. Great choice for next year!

So many of the stickers you’ve saved are SO, SO CUTE! I’m confident you will use them all someday! Don’t beat yourself up about having a good eye.

Really enjoyed this video, and thanks for the mention! Yeah I am not worried about blank pages either, I have plenty of books with blank pages hehe! I just generally suck at memory keeping but I know that in the future those are the ones I or my son would benefit most from (I am much better at the f you journals you mentioned but those always need to be shredded or burned haha). Enjoyed what you said about inspiration and not trying to strictly emulate styles. I also think it is totally ok to try to follow the way someone else does something but that in the end the best part is when you blend all that inspiration with your own ideas and styles. It is so fun to see how things evolve that way! Love that you have decided on a 2025 planner already. I am making some huge changes I think, and I am super excited about it. Not sure if I will carry on with a TN vertical, as it really is an effort for me to do. But I do still want to force myself to menory keep even though it doesn't come naturally to me hahaga

Oh my gosh, I’m so late watching this swatching video! In regards to the amount of ink samples I sent being 7, I’d like to think I had forethought but it’s most likely random. 😹 I’m glad you enjoyed swatching these. I give Birmingham Pen Co a lot of grace because I’ve been buying from them for so long and I love their evolution. I also give grace to most companies, because they are rarely setting out to damage the customer. In the cases where there are shady things knowingly going on, I will avoid the company altogether. The Everlasting inks have such weird performance. I’m sure it has something to do with being water-resistant but I can’t figure out what. Thank you for sharing! 🤘🏼😸🧡🖋

I have asked these makers so many questions. Even details like "what's your polishing process?" and they have ALL responded with very helpful and detailed responses with patience and kindness.

I'm glad you have good ideas so I can copy you. Layering those stamps is a stroke of genius.

I believe most pen makers would be so happy to answer any questions you have, and it says a lot about you that you are not wanting to come off judgmental or rude. You could always preface your questions by saying just that, "I'm so interested in your work, and please do not think I am being judgmental. I'm wondering how you...." Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your pen and ink combos!

Thank youfor making this review! The drawings inside were so interesting this notebook was an impulse purchase for me, but I didn't know if it was fountain friendly. Your video answered the question and it made me happy to know it works for fountain pen😊

I love both the bottles and the ink stamps. I also love that you use your pens several times to test write with them , across different videos. This gives a better review of them as well as the inks. You don’t just show a pen once and then onto the next one. It’s more realistic! ❤. I bought two bone crusher pens because of your video and I told James that I saw the Water lily Koi on your previous video and I fell in love, and now I would also like a Carene one day !

Really like the stamping and water brush for each pen and ink combo. Your new Bonecrusher Velma is a stunner and the fine nib on it is so crisp.I've seen a few others with them as well and they seem to be high quality pens. I will be adding the Diamine Raspberry Rose to my list. That one is right up my alley and the hanging rice also. I've been wanting to get an olive ink but couldn't decide. For now I'm a samples person because I'm so new but I do have bottles of Pelikan Edelstein apatite and yamabudo because I love their vibrancy. If you ask the pen makers questions I think they would love to answer them. They all seem to be pretty friendly and they just want to make sure you get something that you like. For the handful of custom pens I have purchased that has been my experience anyway.

Lovell inks, lovell pens, lovelorn nibs. What more could we ask for.

I would start with an opener like " I'm really fascinated by pen artistry and the making of pens. Would it be ok to ask you some questions?" I am really interested in sport/pocket style pens. I've seen some lovely ones. When I see them in videos though, I'm always convinced I won't like the short body. I just bought Raspberry Rose. I could only find it in a bottle online in the UK. I also bought a pen to go with it 😅 Writer's blood seems more on the oxblood side of red and RR seems slightly more plum.

I was too stressed about trying to sort out getting appointment at pen show so I just shipped Gena a pen to grind the nib to a journaler - turnaround time is a few months but if you don’t mind waiting, instructions to request this process are on their website.

On the nose! The Diamine definitely looks magenta on screen. I'm never sure about shimmer inks, what's the point if you can't see it in the writing? I feel like the ink bottles are an experience in themselves just like the pens. They evoke an aesthetic, show off the ink better and are sometimes little bits of art to display.

I have the same issue with one of my esties that the nib unit doesn't screw in all the way. It already came like that. At first I wasn't even able to screw the nib unit out, because it was screwed in with a lot of force. I think it is a manufacturing issue where the inner diametre of the grip section varies from pen to pen a bit. Especially with pens out of resin which probably are turned on a machine. And the slightest difference will change how far you can screw it in.

Omg I also haaaaate when ink gets in the clear or transparent grip section. I can‘t stand it! 🙈

Did you know that octopus fluids makes a special cleaner for their write and draw series? You could probably use it for platinum carbon black!

Loving that Diamine all the best and the Earl Grey tea! I still haven't tried an Diamaine inks yet. That zoom nib is really amazing. Your handwriting looks great.

I usually put a little (TWSBI) silicon oil on the rear threads of my Opus 88 pens, that way they don't squeak. thank you for the video.

That Sailor & Earl Grey Tea combo is perfect!

If you like the Deluxe but like the nib on the Cobalt, just switch the nibs.
